Golden Tickets: Hollandse Nieuwe

Golden Tickets: Hollandse Nieuwe

They are young, talented, ambitious and incredibly handsome. On Saturday 10 May, the rising stars of Dutch gastronomy will join forces in the FFF Restaurant. Tickets are now on sale.

Who are they? Niven Kunz (32) was awarded his first Michelin star in 2005 and his restaurant Niven was named Best Vegetable Restaurant of 2013. Jaimie van Heije (29) learned his craft with star chefs such as Ron Blaauw and Sergio Herman. He now runs his own restaurant in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. Jonathan Zandbergen (29), the youngest of the group, is head chef at restaurant Het Veerhuys. Like Jaimie and our own Joris Bijdendijk (29), Jonathan was nominated by Gault Millau as one of the most promising chefs of 2014.

Characterised by a shared interest in responsibly sourced products and high-calibre dishes served in low-key surroundings – you can turn up in your shorts if you want – this new generation of chefs will join Joris in the FFF Restaurant to cook a fantastic lunch for you.

Lunch will be followed by a screening of the Dutch film Hollandse Nieuwe. In this beautifully shot documentary, award-winning filmmaker Leonard Retel Helmrich (The Position of the Stars) takes us on board the last Dutch herring boats, offering a unique insight into the customs and traditions of a disappearing occupation.

This is the last in the Golden Tickets series. By buying a Golden Ticket, you are helping us to set up the FFF Restaurant. We are moving to the Westergasfabriek this year and the restaurant’s future location is still an empty hall. Unlike previous years, the restaurant has to be built from scratch.

Golden Tickets for the Hollandse Nieuwe lunch on 10 May cost €80 per person (excluding wines). Of this €80, €30 goes towards setting up the FFF Restaurant. The rest covers the lunch (€40) and film (€10). Places are limited, so snap up your ticket quick

More gold

Tickets are still available for the other two lunches: eat like royalty with the Pourcel brothers on Sunday 11 May or be spoiled by restaurant critic Johannes van Dam’s favourite chefs on Friday 9 May. But be quick, as places for all the lunches are limited.
