Golden Tickets: Proefwerk

Golden Tickets: Proefwerk

New Golden Tickets are now online! This week the Food Film Festival pays tribute to food writer and restaurant critic Johannes van Dam. Three of his favourite Amsterdam chefs have been invited to cook a special lunch on Friday 9 May.

Johannes van Dam was the doyen of Dutch gastronomy. His column Proefwerk (roughly ‘taste test’) in Het Parool newspaper was both feared and anticipated. He made mincemeat of the city's worst chefs and local celebrities of the best. On Friday 9 May we pay tribute to Van Dam, who passed away last year, with a sumptuous lunch prepared by three Amsterdam chefs who he rated 9.5 or higher.

But who are they? Iwan Driessen from Rijsel (9.5), Richard van Oostenbrugge from Bord’Eau (10-) and Michiel van der Eerde from Baut (10-) were among Van Dam’s favourites. Our FFF chef Joris Bijdendijk (Executive Chef at Restaurant Bridges) and Samuel Levie have invited these culinary heavyweights to cook lunch for you. This is the first time that the four chefs will share a kitchen, so if that doesn't produce culinary fireworks...

During lunch, Samuel Levie and Hiske Versprille, who took over Van Dam's column after his death, will interview the chefs and each other about their experiences with the great man. Lunch will be followed by a screening of De keuken van Johannes (‘Johannes’ Kitchen’), an intimate portrait of Van Dam made by Bianca Tan.

The lunch is part of the Golden Tickets series organised by the Food Film Festival this year. Golden Tickets give access to unique lunches prepared by special guest chefs and inspired by a food film. The lunches also help to make the festival's move to the Westergasfabriek possible.

Why support the FFF?

The Food Film Festival is moving to the Westergasfabriek this year. That means more room for the films, workshops and, of course, the FFF Restaurant. But the restaurant’s future location is still an empty hall. Unlike previous years, the restaurant has to be built from scratch. By buying a Golden Ticket you are helping to make the FFF Restaurant a reality.

What does it cost?

Golden Tickets for the Proefwerk lunch on 9 May cost €80 per person (excluding wines). Of this €80, €30 goes towards setting up the FFF Restaurant. The rest covers the lunch (€40) and film (€10). Places are limited, so snap up your ticket quick.
