The Culinary Bug Adventures of Ben Reade

The Culinary Bug Adventures of Ben Reade

Ben Reade | 19,50 euro | 60 min | English spoken
Voorstelling: Sunday 11 May 18:00 | De Grote Studio

Coming to the Netherlands especially for the FFF, Ben Reade leads Culinary Research and Development at the Nordic Food Lab. A leading representative of Nordic Food, his research has taken him across six continents in the quest for discovering the best tasting insects.

Eating insects is a relatively new concept for many people in the western world, but insects are very interesting. Not only for their nutritious values, and being a positive alternative to meat, the world of insects are a good indicator for biodiversity, which in turn makes a sound measure for the sustainability of different food systems.

Working with insects on both new and traditional ways is an important element of Ben Reade's research. Besides embracing innovative methods and learning about the gastronomic value of native insect species, which is often given much less attention than the nutritional aspects, new insights about the big picture of our food systems are being identified.

As an independent researcher, Reade can freely express his views on such topics, the controversial issues surrounding bug consumption, and other related investigations taking place. He also shares his views and experiences in a captivating manner, focusing on the beautiful things he has discovered on his travels, hoping to inspire everyone that comes into contact with him.

As we write this, Ben is somewhere in the world exploring. Who knows what kind of stories he'll share with us during his presentation.

Please note: This workshop will be conducted in English.
