Global Cuisine: Modern Indian Classics

Abdul Yaseen | 29,50 euro | 120 min | English spoken
Voorstelling: Saturday 10 May 20:00 | De Grote Studio

Let's be honest, how many of us really know what good Indian cooking is? And we don't mean using those ready-made packs of tandoori sauce. The award-winning British chef, Abdul Yaseen is coming to Amsterdam especially for the FFF, to help with all of those misconceptions about Indian cuisine.

Many people consider Indian cooking as being very complicated, with recipes consisting with an endless number of ingredients. None of which are true, and Abdul is going to show you how to make the original flavour of India, completely from scratch! Which spices are there in garam masala? How do you use Turmeric in everyday cooking?

Indian cuisine in the UK is currently experiencing a renaissance. One of those at the forefront of this movement is, Abdul Yaseen. Winner of the British BBQ Championship, chef of London restaurants, Cinnamon Kitchen and Anise, and co-author of the book, Cinnamon Club: Indian Cuisine Reinvented, he is taking Indian cuisine and food culture to new levels!

In his kitchen, Abdul combines locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients with Indian spices and techniques. In this workshop, inspired by the film screening of The Lunchbox, he'll share how you can prepare traditional Indian dishes, deliciously and simply in what is promised to be in the words of the chef himself, a multisensory experience.

During this workshop you will not only see Abdul cooking, he will also invite you on stage to help him. You will participate in the preparation of a few small dishes to be shared and tasted by all present. Every dish will be accompanied by a special Indian wine provided by Asian Wines. You might not have guessed, but India is actually a great wine nation.

Please note: This workshop will be conducted in English.
