Work, eat, sleep, work. The sea is a lonely place. Polaris depicts the lives of migrant fishermen in Scotland.
Local employees are unwilling to do the work that Filipinos do on the fishing boats: it is dangerous, repetitive and exhausting. The only contact that the Filipinos have with their families back home is an occasional short telephone call, if they can get through. A film of fixed tableaux and little dialogue, which reflects on the role of work in our lives.
