Last-minute additions: Film, food tour and sneak preview dinner

Only a week and a half to go before the Food Film Festival officially kicks off. Still, we couldn't resist making a few great last-minute additions to the programme. Tickets for these additions are now on sale.

As most people know, the Food Film Festival was founded by the Youth Food Movement (YFM), which in turn is the youth branch of Slow Food. The recently released film Slow Food Story tells the story of Slow Food since its inception in 1989 and the cultural revolution that the movement has brought about. The film, which won rave reviews at the Berlinale, will be screened on Friday afternoon 22 March. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Slow Food founder Carlo Petrini and director Stefano Sardo.

On Sunday, writer Carolyn Steel (Hungry City) and Anke de Vrieze from CITIES are organising a special tour of Amsterdam. On foot and by bike, they will take you to the places that have played an important role in Amsterdam’s food history. On this Old Amsterdam Food Tour, you will see Amsterdam through new eyes.

The FFF in the neighbourhood programme, aimed at engaging residents and businesses in Amsterdam Oost with the festival, has been expanded. On Sunday 17 March in the Meevaart community centre, we will screen a Food Film Festival sneak preview followed by a meal. Dinner talk will revolve around food: do we still know what we are eating? Where does our food come from? What is the story behind it?

And finally, don't forget to check out the free programme for the ‘Leuk tentje’ festival tent on Timorplein, which includes music, meet and greets, and an open mic night.
