L'Amour des Moules at Berlinale

L'Amour des Moules at Berlinale

The 63rd edition of the Berlinale opens on Thursday. One of our favourite sections of the film festival is – what else? – Culinary Cinema. This year, the honour of opening the section goes to L'Amour des Moules.

The Berlinale is one of the highlights of the film industry calendar. For more than six decades, the festival has screened the latest and greatest films and documentaries. For the seventh year, the programme includes 16 spectacular food films, including the Dutch L’Amour des Moules, which will also be shown at the Food Film Festival in March.

Willemiek Kluijfhout’s documentary depicts the fascinating life of the Zeeland mussel and the passionate people it encounters along the way. In this ‘mussel odyssey’, Kluijfhout follows the professionals engaged in the mussel industry: biologists, farmers, fishermen, top chef Sergio Herman and even a gynaecologist. Intriguing stories beautifully shot. No wonder the film was selected to open Kulinarische Kino.

The full programme for the Food Film Festival will be published on 21 February.
